One of the most established and honored performing arts institutions in America, Washington Performing Arts has been serving artists, audiences, students, and civic life for over a half century. Washington Performing Arts presents a broad range of artists and art forms, from the most distinguished symphony orchestras, to both renowned and emerging artists in classical music, jazz, and other genres. Through sustained residencies and educational programs, Washington Performing Arts has made its artists a continuing presence in the lives of its audience. Founded in 1986, Washington Concert Opera has shaped the way concert opera is presented in the DC area. Washington Concert Opera performs operatic works in concert form at the company’s artistic home, Lisner Auditorium of George Washington University. Washington Concert Opera has been called, “integral to the musical fabric of the city” by The Washington Post and praised by Opera News for “performances of the highest order.” Washington Concert Opera has performed over 60 operas, with a roster of world-renowned artists including, Marina Costa-Jackson, Stephanie Blythe, Lawrence Brownlee, Renée Fleming, Michael Fabiano, Elizabeth Futral, Denyce Graves, Ben Heppner, Deborah Voigt, and others.
Virginia Opera is known and respected nationwide for the identification and presentation of the finest young artists, for the musical and dramatic integrity of its productions, and for the ingenuity and variety of its education and outreach programs. The company produces four mainstage productions including performances in Norfolk, Richmond, and Fairfax. Virginia Opera was named The Official Opera Company of the Commonwealth of Virginia in recognition of its contribution to the state's cultural life.
The NationalPhilharmonic is a resident artistic partner of the Music Center at Strathmore. The National Philharmonic boasts a long-standing tradition of reasonably priced tickets, and free admission to young people age 7- 17. The goal of the National Philharmonic is to make classical music accessible to all people in Montgomery County and the DC area. The National Philharmonic has showcased pianist, Brian Ganz, cellist Zuill Bailley, soprano Danielle Talamantes, tenor Issachah Savage, and other world-renowned guest artists.
Classical Arts Society of Washington exists to share the beauty of classical music with the world by presenting dynamic public concerts that attract and integrate a diverse group of audience members of all ages and backgrounds. Classical Arts Society of Washington celebrates this art form with a dedicated and inclusive group of advocates and patrons and shares classical music with children in inner city schools as part of its extensive educational outreach programming.

The Polinger Artists of Excellence concert series has been running for over 50 years and showcases magnificent chamber works at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington on Sundays at 3:00 or 7:00 pm. Highlights of the 2024-2025 season include well-loved chamber works by Schubert, Franck, Puccini, and Dvořák in addition to lesser-known gems by Thomas Adès, Adolphus Hailstork, and Pierre Jalbert.
